ERROR CODES / OWNER GUIDE
2015 F-150 P0300–P0308 Misfire Codes
Identify whether the misfire is random or cylinder-specific.
Misfire codes can indicate a minor ignition issue or a more serious engine problem. The code tells you where the misfire was detected, not what physically caused it.
P0300 typically indicates random or multiple misfires, while P0301 onward identify a cylinder. Multiple codes may coexist.
P0300 versus a single-cylinder code
P0300 generally means random/multiple-cylinder misfire. P0301 through P0308 identify specific cylinders on engines that have those cylinder numbers. Since the 2015 F-150 comes in V6 and V8 versions, the relevant cylinder range depends on the engine.
Questions that narrow the issue
Does the roughness happen only at idle, on acceleration or during a cold start? Did the check-engine light flash? Are fuel-trim, ignition or boost codes stored at the same time? Those details can guide testing without throwing parts at the problem.
Possible areas to test
Ignition components, spark plugs, fuel injectors, wiring, air leaks and engine mechanical condition can all be involved. Swapping a component may help only when done safely and methodically by someone qualified.
When not to continue driving
A flashing check-engine light often signals a misfire serious enough to threaten the catalytic converter. Reduce load, pull over when safe and seek a professional diagnosis. Towing or hard acceleration can make matters worse.
Next steps
- Write down every P030x code.
- Note cylinder number, engine and operating conditions.
- Save any companion fuel-trim or boost codes.
- Avoid further heavy use if the engine is shaking or the light flashes.

These are the original manufacturer resources and service documents used to check the technical points above. They may be updated, and vehicle-specific information takes priority.
I own a 2015 Ford F-150 and plan to add real observations, photos and maintenance notes to these guides. I won't present an untested repair as something I've personally done.
